The groundbreaking ceremony took place in March, and a good six months later the topping-out ceremony for the new Catholic kindergarten with six groups in Walpertskirchen could be celebrated.

Walpertskirchen

- On Friday lunchtime, young and old were happy about the successful construction progress of the million-dollar project in difficult times of the Corona.

“So far we have come through this phase well, and we are on schedule both in terms of time and costs.

We are currently assuming construction costs - excluding land - of around six million, ”said Mayor Franz Hörmann (CSU) in his speech.

Donations of around 2.6 million euros are expected.

The community chief thanked everyone involved in the construction for their committed work.

Everyone would do their best to keep to the schedule, "so that the various trades interlock noiselessly and so that we can hand over a new, great house to the kindergarten for its 50th birthday next year".

Complete new building as the "only sensible alternative"

In his chronological outline, the mayor recalled difficult trials.

Fire protection and statics problems in the old building already caused headaches in 2017.

“In any case, from the Easter holidays 2018 onwards, the upper floor rooms could no longer be used for structural reasons, and a kindergarten group was relocated to the premises of the primary school.” Ultimately, a completely new building appeared to be the “only sensible alternative”.

The land negotiations were concluded in December 2018.

An "extensive planning process" has started.

In February 2020, the draft planning by Hirner & Riehl Architects was unanimously approved by the local council.

"The discussion about the preservation of the old monastery building caused again short-term irritations in the spring of 2020", the mayor looked back.

But the local council had "unanimously and emphatically" confirmed its plans.

18 colleagues are currently looking after 97 children from 90 families

Shortly thereafter, the old building was demolished and the preparations for the new building followed, which "started its construction phase" with the groundbreaking on March 5, 2021.

Twelve planning offices and 13 specialist companies are currently involved, "and I can promise that there will be a lot more," announced Hörmann.

Despite Corona, some delivery problems and the bad weather, good progress has been made.

Planner Melanie Wenderlein from the Hirner & Riehl office came to the topping-out ceremony with her colleague Paco Rodriguez Zafra.

With the new wooden construction, an "economical, sustainable, ecological and future-oriented building" was created, said Wenderlein happily.

Kindergarten director Gabi Cilsik emphasized how urgently the new building was needed.

Currently, 18 colleagues are looking after 97 children from 90 families.

The children greeted the new building with a nice "topping-out song".

And carpenter Martin Klingshirn uttered the traditional toast in lofty heights.
