Nuremberg - A good week before the federal election on September 26, CSU boss Markus Söder and Union chancellor candidate Armin Laschet met for a short lunch in Söder's hometown of Nuremberg.
Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut were served in a traditional restaurant in the old town.

Söder and Laschet assured each other of mutual support on the home stretch of the election campaign.
"We stand together resolutely and united," said Söder.
A little later he wrote on Twitter: “Franconian food gives you strength.
We want to prevent a left slide with full commitment. ”He also quoted Star Wars:“ May the force be with us ”
Laschet described the support from the small sister party CSU as "exemplary".
"That also gives the backing that the CDU needs," said Laschet.
Bundestag election: CDU and Laschet behind SPD and Scholz
In the most recent opinion polls for the federal election, Laschet is still well behind SPD opponent Olaf Scholz. A poll published on Friday by the Wahlen research group shows the same picture as a week ago - the Union would come to 22 percent and would be three points behind the SPD. The day before, the YouGov Institute had determined a five-point lead for the SPD, while Infratast Dimap led the Social Democrats with four points.
