- In a previous meeting, the local council had already dealt with the request of residents of the street “Am Eschbach” to limit the speed there to 30 km / h (we reported). You had now made a written application, the subject came up again. Well over 40 children would live, meet and play in the area mentioned. Many road users would drive too fast - an enormous risk potential, as the applicants put it. A speed limit of 30 km / h would defuse the situation and increase safety for everyone.
Hubert Pfettrisch agreed and spoke in favor of setting up a 30 km / h zone “Am Eschbach”, as well as in “Fuchsgasse”, “Angerweg” and “St.
Martin Weg ”.
Additional warning signs at the corners of the danger point at the barn, as suggested by Mayor Norbert Essich, “would definitely not do any harm”.
Pfettrisch disagreed with Essich's objection that other areas should possibly be declared to be 30 km / h zones if you take this big step and not only limit the speed on a street.
There is a very high number of children in the “Am Eschbach / Angerweg” area.
In other streets this is not the case and one should not put a limit there that is probably not wanted by local residents.

Tempo 30: Marking with a sign or marking on the road?
Christian Huber, among others, saw things differently: “One child is just as important to me as 40.” However, Huber moved away from his earlier suggestion to set up a play street, as it would also result in a parking ban, for example.
“That is not feasible.” However, he agreed to the proposal to designate a larger 30 km / h zone and to set up warning signs in the danger area.
However, it should be signs with an official character and not self-painted ones.
Gotthard Leichter added that it is not just about children, but also older people - there is also a nursing home in the area. He also suggested drawing the speed limit on the street. One has to wait and see whether more roads are to follow and only concentrate on the application for now.

The speed is still too fast in the area of the danger zone. It was probably a misunderstanding, Norbert Schreiber made clear. If the signs were shown immediately in front of the danger zone, the concerns are justified. However, a larger area should be declared a 30 km / h zone, the speed signs would be far enough away from the danger zone so that the speed there still has to be adapted to the situation.
The local council voted against for a 30 km / h zone, which covers the streets “Am Eschbach”, “Fuchsgasse”, “St.
Martin Weg ”and“ Angerweg ”.
The further procedure, including whether a sign or a marking on the roadway makes more sense, should now be clarified with the district office.
Local council advocates Tempo 30 for the entire place
For Hubert Waibel, it was “yesterday's decision”, as he repeatedly made clear in the discussion. Waibel referred to Marktoberdorf, where Tempo 30 should become the rule, even Paris is taking the step towards the traffic turnaround and is introducing said speed limit almost everywhere. Waibel explained that this was not just about safety, but also environmental protection. Even if he likes to drive fast himself, the trend towards the speed limit is clearly recognizable and it would be only logical for Schwabbruck to introduce a speed limit of 30 in the entire town - with the exception of the main streets such as Altenstädter and Burggener Straße. Before you go that far, you should first wait for the experience you have made with the now decided Tempo 30 zone, said Norbert Schreiber among others.
