According to police, four participants were arrested at the demonstration for those involved in the storming of the Capitol in Washington.
But there were no riots.
Significantly fewer people take part than expected.
According to the organizers, only around 100 to 200 supporters of former US President Donald Trump came to the protests on Saturday.
Security authorities had expected up to 700 participants, some of them violent.
At the rally, under the motto "Justice for J6", the arrested attackers were demonstrated on January 6th. On Friday, the US Department of Defense put the National Guard on standby as a precaution. The US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered that 100 National Guardsmen stand ready to assist the police in protecting the seat of Congress.
Demo organizer Matt Braynard, a former member of Trump's campaign team, called on participants several times during a speech to remain peaceful. According to him, many people did not come to protest in the US capital out of fear. He and the Trump supporters clapped ostentatiously for the Capitol Police. Braynard also called on the demonstrators to give a friendly smile to the security forces and journalists as they leave the premises. "We'll keep fighting," he announced. The demonstrators chanted, among other things, "USA, USA, USA".
In Washington in early January, protests by supporters of Trump against Joe Biden's election victory escalated with an unprecedented storm on parliament.
Trump supporters broke through police lines and entered the Capitol in droves while Senators and MPs were in the process of formally confirming Biden's November victory.
The meeting rooms had to be evacuated.
Five people died in the attack.
More than 600 people have been charged in connection with the storming of the Capitol.
