Courage: Women Demonstrate in Front of Taliban's Modesty and Morality | Israel today

2021-09-19T15:08:55.834Z

The extremist organization that has taken over Afghanistan does not allow women to return to the school bench • The Kabul municipality has banned the facts from reaching offices • In Kandahar, the organization's police have encouraged citizens to report violators of modesty laws

A group of ten women demonstrated today (Sunday) against the Taliban's new ministry of morality and modesty in the capital, Kabul.

The women gathered in front of the office buildings, which were formerly the headquarters of the Ministry of Women's Affairs, and chanted slogans condemning the extremist organization.

The women carried signs that read "Hiding women - hiding all of humanity" and called on the country's residents to revolt against discrimination against women.

In recent days, a flood of decisions have been reported to discriminate against and oppress women by the organization.

The commander of the Taliban's moral police in the city of Kandahar, the second largest city in the country, told the Observer today that his forces would enforce Sharia law according to the strictest interpretation and called on citizens to report their neighbors violating the laws.

In addition, the Kabul Municipality under its new management has announced that its offices are closed to facts and that women will not be allowed to continue working in the municipality buildings.

The rationale given for the decision is security, but it reflects a long line of late decisions that exclude women from public life in the country.

Another statement issued by the organization in the capital, Kabul, said all white schools should return to action immediately from Monday, after schools in the country were shut down as a result of fighting between defeated government forces and the Taliban last month.

However, the Taliban did not say when girls would be allowed to return to school and a spokesman for the organization told the Associated Press that the continued shutdown of girls 'and girls' education was intended to "keep them safe during an unstable period".

Voices from the country told the British news network "Sky" that in some of the cities in the country, girls were allowed to attend primary schools, apparently while turning a blind eye to Taliban members, but high schools were closed and Taliban even prevented some of them from opening.

Last week, the organization announced that women and girls could continue to receive education, a change in the organization's policy that ruled the country between 1996 and 2001 forbidding any kind of education for women, but conditioned that education be conducted separately from men and in full religious attire at all times.
