Young Jews from around the world were hosted today (Sunday) in the Foreign Ministry booth, at an event hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister MK Idan Roll.
The young people have arrived in Israel in the past month from countries such as India, the United States, Australia and Bolivia, as part of a special outline approved by the government, with the aim of volunteering in the cities of the social and geographical periphery of the country.
MK Idan Roll hosts new immigrants in the Foreign Ministry's sukkah, Shelly Zuckerman
During the meeting in the sukkah, Zeev Gitelson from Australia, who participates in the "Journey of Volunteers" program of the Journey organization, said that he decided to immigrate to Israel after Operation Wall Guard, after realizing the importance of Israel's message of legitimacy.
Similar stories were told by Hannah Hart of Cleveland, USA, who said that Jews in her hometown are forced to hide their Jewishness, and Alex Sandler of Birmingham, England, who received many antisemitic remarks.
At the end of the meeting, MK Roll said: "We are all one family, the Diaspora family.
As the person in charge of Israel's image in the world, I started sitting around the table with many communities, Jewish and non-Jewish, to talk about Israel's image, and for me you are one of those communities.
We want to see how you can be part of the community just like the four species, each of which has meaning and they cannot stand apart, so the Jewish community is incomplete without Diaspora Jewry. "
