District - Meanwhile, a good 60 percent of the population in Germany is fully vaccinated. The quota ranges from over 70 percent in Bremen to around 54 percent in the Free State of Saxony. Bavaria is in the lower ranks with a good 60 percent. In the Landsberg district, the vaccination rate seems to be even lower. The vaccination campaign week tried to stimulate the citizens' willingness to vaccinate. But the quota continues to stagnate - despite the threat of restrictions for non-vaccinated people. The KREISBOTE asked District Administrator Thomas Eichinger several questions about the current situation.
How do you assess the current vaccination situation in the Landsberg district? According to the district office's vaccination figures, the district lags behind the other Bavarian districts, and Bavaria has a relatively low vaccination status overall. But these numbers are not really meaningful.
Thomas Eichinger:
“At the moment, a little more than half of the people in our district are verifiably fully vaccinated.
The manufacturers BioNTech / Pfizer and Moderna are currently also working on vaccines for children up to the age of twelve.
This age group makes up a good ten percent of the population in our district.
In fact, the meaningfulness of the statistical comparisons of individual districts is now extremely low, since every person is free to be vaccinated flexibly and independently of their own registration address, also at the company doctors, other general practitioners' practices or in neighboring vaccination centers. The location of the vaccination precaution and the statistics in which which vaccination was recorded therefore plays a rather subordinate role if we are interested in a high vaccination quota throughout Germany.
In our district, too, the vaccination center in Penzing is still available to all citizens to arrange a vaccination appointment.
We are convinced that a high proportion of those vaccinated can of course better resist a fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in autumn.
We have to reckon with progressive infections, mainly in the area of the unvaccinated, in the next few weeks.

I hope, however, that we can keep the number of infections low by further vaccinations and also by adhering to hygiene measures and that we therefore only have to fear hospital admissions to a small extent. "
Why were there no special campaigns in the district on the occasion of the nationwide vaccination campaign week?
Eichinger:
“Vaccination appointments can still be made both in the district vaccination center and with the general practitioners.
We did not just have vaccination campaign weeks in the district now, but over the last few weeks and months of summer.
In the course of a whole series of vaccination campaigns in public space, a clear saturation of willingness to vaccinate was recently noticeable. "
What are the reasons of the county citizens not to be vaccinated? Or does the district have, for example, a particularly high proportion of under-12-year-olds or other 'not able to vaccinate'?
Eichinger:
“I don't want to speculate about the reasons.
From conversations with individual citizens, I know of mostly subjective assessments with regard to the risk assessment of a health hazard, which lead to not being vaccinated.
Each person has to make such health and therefore highly individual risk assessments for themselves and must continue to be respected. "
What measures could state or federal politics take to improve vaccination readiness? What do you think of the free veal sausage and similar promotions?
Eichinger:
“Since every vaccination precaution is a health precaution, such a precautionary measure should continue to be kept free from distracting third motives.
One should set a correspondingly serious framework for one's own health care, which gives space for very conscious decisions. "
Corona office hours
What measures could you take at the county level to increase vaccination readiness?
Eichinger:
“I have repeatedly published vaccination calls;
personally and regularly in the course of early summer and the summer months, also on social media, in order to address younger generations.
Corresponding education and persuasion work with regard to the health benefits of a vaccination is carried out in our district in a committed form by our pandemic center in Penzing, our own hotline and the medical practices.
At the beginning of October of this year, we also intend to create information by telephone in the district office, which will offer regular consultation hours for personal questions about a corona vaccination.
In this way, we can answer queries from citizens regarding vaccination prevention even more individually and directly. "
How do you feel about possible or already existing restrictions for non-vaccinated persons (fee-based tests, no admission to events, elimination of state wages if a non-vaccinated person has to be quarantined)?
Eichinger:
“This will show and it remains to be seen which decision-making bases will be formed at the federal political level in the coming weeks. Of course, it is important to take into account the arguments of health risk patients who may not be vaccinated because of allergies or the like. In principle, however, such cases should not constitute the majority in our country. At this point I should only like to emphasize that I welcome every positive decision in favor of personal vaccination prevention and approve it in terms of mutual care. After all, a vaccination usually not only protects the individual, but can also significantly prevent the spread of an infection chain. "
