"Luck is with the able": The FFW Eching was blessed with bright sunshine on its catch-up date for the 150th anniversary celebration.

The FFW Eching would have liked to have celebrated extensively with the citizens from July 8th to 11th - a 16-member festival committee had been working towards this for three years - but Corona thwarted all these plans.

It is precisely against this background that the “anniversary mass” is all about “festive joy”, said the Catholic priest Markus Guggenbiller when he was greeted in the open air.

The parish meadow in the Catholic parish center of Sankt Andreas was transformed into an atmospheric open-air church, in which the colorfully decorated altar with the association flags and the worshipers came together to create an atmospheric overall picture. Strongly represented as main characters in team strength, including their honorary members, the members of the FFW Eching presented themselves in uniform as did the delegations from the Dietersheim and Günzenhausen local fire brigades and the fire brigade comrades from the sponsor association, the FFW Goldach. The festivities were musically accompanied by an ensemble from the Echingen brass band.

The Eucharistic celebration, in which the new flag ribbons were also consecrated, was dominated by the motto of the volunteer Florian disciples: "Honor God, defend your neighbor".

As Pastor Martin Guggenbiller explained in his celebratory sermon, many people are no longer aware that the active charity that the fire fighters provide around the clock on often dangerous missions is motivated by Christian faith: “Faith and works belong together. ”He appealed to bring God into everyday life - and to invite him into the fire engine.

The flower-adorned swap-body vehicle Florian 36/2, which was already in operation on July 1, 2020, had already attracted everyone's attention. With a corona-related delay, the modern fire engine and the water / foam roll-off container have now been ceremoniously inaugurated. The focus was on thanks, praise and appreciation for the active firefighters. This triad was also expressed in the speeches by Pastor Markus Krusche, Mayor Sebastian Thaler and District Fire Inspector Helmut Schmid.

In his brief address, Commander Stefan Maidl thanked him for the support from the municipal administration and council and addressed the difficulty in procuring the container superstructures commissioned in Austria by the pandemic. He demonstrated that the towing vehicle, whose container can hold 7500 liters of extinguishing water and 500 liters of foam, has already performed important services in the FFW Eching area. The FFW Eching had been pursuing the introduction of swap bodies as a new concept since 2008. This increases the clout with regard to growing tasks because, overall, significantly fewer staff are required, a very important aspect in today's fire services. The Bavarian anthem concluded the solemn ceremony.
