Munich - The so-called pool tests in elementary and special schools should actually start this Monday - but school principals are on the barricades because of additional bureaucracy.

"The introduction of the pool tests (...) with this time pressure without a solidly verified administrative lead time is unrealistic," wrote the chairman of the Bavarian School Management Association (bsv), Cäcilia Mischko, in a letter to Minister of Education Michael Piazolo on Sunday.

The introduction of the tests on Monday will not work everywhere

The Ministry of Culture had announced that the pool tests should provide even more security from September 20.

However, a spokesman had already stated on Friday that it will probably not work everywhere with the introduction from Monday.

With the new PCR tests *, which are evaluated in the laboratory and which are considered to be more precise than the previous rapid tests, the children are supposed to suck on two swabs.

First of all, the samples are collected from all of them in a larger tube - i.e. as a pool - examined.

If there is an indication of an infection in the class, the second samples from the children are analyzed individually.
