REPORT - With the start of the school year, classes have resumed face-to-face. Good news for students.

A few minutes from the Massy-Palaiseau station (91), and not far from the Saclay plateau, the largest French research center, the Ecla residence, has rediscovered its colors during this academic year.

Cafeteria, gym, gaming room, music studio, collaborative kitchen ... The common areas of this student residence of the future, opened in 2018 around the concept of "co-living", have regained their place in the lives of some 1,300 students and young workers who occupy it.

A full occupancy rate again, after a year that saw 15% of residents evaporate.

Chinese and American students have returned a little less.

But the Chinese remain the most represented community

, ”notes Jacques-Édouard Charret, president of the Uxco Group - specializing in the creation of co-living sites for students and young workers - who manages Ecla Campus.

Here, 65% of residents are internationals, coming from nearly 90 countries around the world.
