The father of the driver who ran over Barak Khoury to death: "He is a normative son, hope the overthrow will stop"
Rafi Azulai, the father of Eran who ran over the 12-year-old on the eve of Yom Kippur, claimed in an interview with 103FM that his son expressed regret over the case.
"He is the salt of the earth, volunteers and contributes to society."
He described the "circumstances" that led to the incident and his son's previous convictions for drunk driving.

He added that "the justice system should do its thing." About the Barak family, the father said: "I saw the mother talking and my heart aches with her." He said he did not get to talk to his son. "He managed to say two words to me on the phone: 'Dad, I'm very sorry.'"
Last Wednesday, on the eve of Yom Kippur, 12-year-old Barak Khoury left his family's home in Ramat Gan for his friend's house in Petah Tikva. On his way, he was fatally hit by a vehicle on Road 4 near Givat Shmuel. He was first taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, then transferred to Schneider Children's Hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead. The offending driver, Eran Azulai, a resident of Be'er Ya'akov in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving.
Police said Azoulay was found drunk after undergoing an owl test and was found to have allegedly drunk twice as much as allowed. This is the third time he has been caught driving while intoxicated. In 2015 he was involved in an accident in which he was found drunk and so in 2014.

Azoulay's lawyer Advocate Khaled Svelihi said in court, during the hearing on the extension of his detention, that “the suspect in the fence is in a battle from the incident he is currently experiencing.
His heart goes out to the family of the victim of the crime and regrets the result.
