It is no longer the incidence in the district, but the Bavaria-wide hospital traffic light that has recently decided on the corona measures.

Such is the situation at the Agatharied Clinic.

District

- green, yellow, red: these three colors are enough to make traffic on the streets safe. Recently, they should also do this with the course of the pandemic. Since the state government introduced the new corona traffic light, the 7-day incidence of a district is no longer decisive for local infection protection measures, but the situation in hospitals across Bavaria. This, in turn, is explained by the new admissions over the past seven days and the occupancy of the intensive care bed.

The Agatharied Hospital contributes the figures from the Miesbach district.

As has been the case since the beginning of the pandemic, the clinic

sends

a daily report to the DIVI intensive care register and the

IVENA system, which is

crucial for the allocation of emergency patients

.

“There is no internal corona traffic light just for our hospital,” the hospital's corporate communications department told our newspaper when asked.

Rather, you react to the current overall situation in the house.

Higher incidence means more hospitalizations

Accordingly, there is no general answer to how many new admissions or additions of Covid 19 cases are still manageable in the intensive care unit. After all, all other patients also have a share in the total workload. Whether accidents or planned operations that have been postponed due to the pandemic. On top of that, the capacity utilization of the hospital is also dependent on developments in the surrounding clinics and can therefore not be viewed singularly. But it is already a fact that an increasing incidence in the district is also leading to more Covid 19 hospitalizations in Agatharied. "As the number of cases increases, we have increasing numbers of patients," emphasizes Julia Jäckel, employee in corporate communications at the clinic, after consulting the pandemic officer and chief physician of the Agatharieder emergency center, Dr.Steffen Herdtle.

In general, the hospital's bed capacity has been significantly reduced due to Corona.

The reason for this are the lock areas necessary to separate Covid 19 patients, suspected cases and all other patients.

The numerous postponed operations and the numerous accidents in the past few weeks make things even more difficult.

That is why the Corona station has recently been successively reduced in size.

But if more Covid 19 cases come to the hospital again, you have to think about reallocating capacities.

According to Jäckel, only unvaccinated patients will continue to receive intensive care for a corona infection.

In the normal ward, people are occasionally provided with a full vaccination, but with them there are usually additional factors such as previous illnesses, advanced age or a second vaccination that was long in the past.

A look at the DIVI intensive register

A look at the DIVI intensive care register provides at least a more detailed comparison on the subject of hospital utilization. There are currently 26 intensive care beds for Agatharied (as of yesterday), 23 of which are occupied. However, there are only two Covid 19 patients (both invasively ventilated) among them, a share of 7.69 percent. The proportion of free intensive care beds for the district hospital is given as 11.54 percent. This means that the district of Miesbach appears on the DIVI map in the second-highest of the five stress levels with the color light red (10 to 15 percent free intensive care beds). For comparison: In the neighboring district of Rosenheim this value is 12.12 percent, in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen it is 8.33 percent (dark red level).

In conclusion, however, it should be said again: The decisive factor for tightening measures is currently the Bavaria-wide hospital traffic light, and it is currently green.
