The Academy of Television of the United States celebrates the 73rd edition of the Emmy Awards, in what is
its first face-to-face ceremony since the beginning of the pandemic
.
In a ratification of the forecasts,
Ted Lasso, Mare of Easttown and The Crown
took the first statuettes of the night.
The gala began at a pure pace, with a song that began singing the host of the night,
Cedric the Entertainer
(known for the series
The Neighborhood
) and continued throughout the room of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Table by table,
several familiar faces were singing a part of that hymn
, in solfa, in homage to television.
Ted Lasso starts with everything
Seth Rogen was the first to announce an award
.
She first joked briefly about the pandemic ("We were told it would be outdoors and we're in a hermetically sealed tent!") And then revealed the first winner of the night: Hannah Waddingham took the award for Best Supporting Actress comic series for his work on
Ted Lasso
.
Thus, the series about an American football coach who emigrates to London to lead a football team, began to confirm the forecasts that placed her as one of the great favorites of the night.

And that favoritism was immediately confirmed, when the category Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series also went to a
Ted Lasso
actor
, Brett Goldstein.
It was predictable:
four of the eight nominees were part of the cast
of the Apple TV + series.
Mare of Easttown and four in a row from The Crown
Kate Winslet at the Emmys.

One of the most fought categories was expected to be miniseries.
And
Mare of Easttown
started her fight with Lady's Gambit with everything: she won the awards for best actress and supporting actor.
They went respectively to
Julianne Nicholson and Evan Peters
.
Peter Morgan, the creator of
The Crown
, took the prize for the screenplay, and immediately Jessica Hobbs received the best director for the same fiction, so the series about British royalty also began early to confirm its favoritism.
Gillian Anderson
added the third award of the night for
The Crown
: She was the best supporting actress in a drama series for her incarnation of Margaret Thatcher.
Before introducing the best supporting actor category, there was a memory for one of the nominees,
Michael K. Williams
, the eternally remembered Omar Little of
The Wire
, who was now competing for his work on
Lovecraft Country
and died on September 6, at 54 years old.
The award also went to
The Crown
: in this case to Tobias Menzies for his composition of Philip of Edinburgh.
