His wife and companion were also seriously injured.
A car driver had overlooked the two.
The accident occurred last Sunday at around 1:44 p.m. on State Road 2056 at the Pähl Nord confluence, according to a police report. A 65-year-old woman from Marktoberdorf was driving on the state road from Fischen and wanted to turn left in the direction of Pähl. In doing so, she overlooked the oncoming motorcyclist from Dießen. The two vehicles collided in the area of the confluence, with the motorcycle driving into the right side of the vehicle. The 54-year-old was critically injured in the traffic accident and was taken to the Murnau accident hospital by helicopter. His 48-year-old wife as a social partner was also seriously injured by the ambulance service to the Weilheim hospital, as was the person who caused the accident, who was only slightly injured.
The property damage is estimated by the police at around 26,000 euros.
The Munich II public prosecutor's office ordered an accident analysis report and the vehicles to be seized to clarify the matter.
The state road was closed until around 5 p.m. to record the accident and prepare expert reports.
The Pähl fire brigade and the road maintenance department carried out diversion measures and the cleaning of the lane.
