Since 2012, working people have only been allowed to retire at the age of 67.

But in some professions, retirement beckons much earlier - with full demands.

Munich - Many Germans dream of an early retirement.

The fact that this is moving further and further away with the increasing funding gap in the pension fund is also the subject of the current federal election.

The last major reform was nine years ago.

In 2012 it was decided to raise the retirement age to 67 for all those born after 1964.

Those who want to take their well-deserved retirement beforehand have to be prepared for high deductions.

However, there are professions with a significantly earlier retirement age - without major disadvantages.

A high level of mental or physical stress often plays a role here.

These include, for example, officials who are employed in security agencies and the judiciary.

Pension: Civil servants retire much earlier

For example, fire brigade officers, law enforcement officers and police officers have the rule that they can retire seven or five years earlier.

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, this is intended to take account of the particular burdens of these professions.

Anyone who has at least five years of service and was born after 1964 can therefore retire at the age of 62.

However, civil servants only receive their full pension after 40 years of service.

Then there is 1.79375 percent of the civil servant's salary that is credited to the retirement salary for each year of service.

According to the

Thuringian General

, this can

add up to a

maximum of

71.75 percent of the last gross salary.

Pension: Special rules apply to soldiers

Special rules also apply to members of the Bundeswehr.

Professional soldiers are not civil servants, but they are treated "on an equal footing with civil servants" and are therefore entitled to retirement and a retirement salary.

However, the following rule applies: the higher a professional soldier has got on the career ladder, the longer the period of service lasts.

Generals and colonels as well as officers of the medical service, the military music service and the geographic information service can retire at the age of 65.

For all other professional soldiers, the age limit for retirement is 62.

Pension: jet pilots at the forefront

If members of the Bundeswehr want to retire earlier, there are also deductions here.

The corresponding regulations apply from the age of 55.

The retirement salary is then again based on years of service.

The calculation basis is the same as for the fire brigade, police or judiciary.

If you want to retire as a soldier particularly early, you have to get one of the rare seats in the cockpit of a fighter jet.

Jet pilots have an age limit of 41 years within the Bundeswehr and can then say goodbye.

Since the early retirement age makes it impossible to achieve the minimum service period of 40 years, which is necessary for a maximum retirement salary, jet pilots can then expect a surcharge of up to 16.9 percent.

Pension: From the age of 55, you can retire without any deductions

For civilians, the chances of early retirement are particularly good, especially for air traffic controllers.

After all, the job is considered to be particularly stressful and mentally stressful.

Therefore, the idea of security applies here again.

Because: The older an air traffic controller gets, the more the ability to concentrate dwindles.

Serious aircraft accidents could be the result.

Therefore, after at least 15 years of employment, air traffic controllers can go to a so-called transitional pension at the age of 55.

This time lasts eight years and, according to the German Air Traffic Control (DFS), guarantees 70 percent of the last remuneration until the final retirement age.

If you want to start the transitional pension even earlier, you have to cut back at the age of 52, but have to accept 0.3 percent deductions for each month brought forward.

Figures from the Federal Employment Agency show that this can be worthwhile. The monthly gross salary of an air traffic controller is 7,650 euros. Anyone who enters the transitional pension at the age of 52 can still expect around 4,528 euros gross per month.
