The federal election is approaching - and the Union wants the "turnaround".
A new survey gives the CDU and CSU a positive signal.
But it is hope on a low level.
Berlin - Less than two weeks until the federal election - the nervousness of the parties is increasing.
After the CSU party congress and the second chancellor triad, the big key question seems to be: Can the Union actually turn the tide again?
And ultimately maybe even intercept the SPD around Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz again?
"Everything is possible, I also see signs of a trend reversal," said CSU General Secretary Markus Blume on Tuesday morning.
And in fact, the opinion polls are now also providing the first indications: In a new “trend barometer” published on the same day by the broadcasters n-tv and RTL, the Union has risen by a remarkable two percentage points.
The day before, an Insa survey for the sister parties had shown stagnant values.

However, there are also downsides for the CDU and CSU. On the one hand: The increase is based on an almost disastrous previous week's result of 19 percent. On the other hand: The SPD is still clearly in the front. In the Forsa Institute survey, the Social Democrats remain stable at 25 percent; four percentage points ahead of the Union. Another aspect could give the conservatives further hope. The survey was carried out from September 7th to 13th - so only partially after the hoped-for "turning points" at the party congress and Triell.
Forsa is also sending positive signals for Union Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet (CDU).
He added two percentage points to the question of the chancellor.
However, he is still a long way from his opponent Scholz - and is still even behind Annalena Baerbock.
The opinion polls measured 30 percent approval for Scholz, 15 percent for the Greens and 11 percent for Laschet.

In the Sunday question, apart from the small upward leap in the Union, little moves.
In addition to the SPD, the Greens also remain stable - they are at 17 percent.
The FDP could be the direct loser of the CDU / CSU comeback, it loses two percentage points.
AfD and left remain at 11 and 6 percent respectively.
According to the survey, coalition majorities are currently for “Germany” (SPD, Union, FDP), Ampel, Jamaica, red-green-red - and for a renewed GroKo.

However, the survey on behalf of RTL and ntv also contains bitter findings for Laschet: CSU boss Markus Söder would currently prefer 38 percent of those surveyed as chancellor. If Söder were to run, Olaf Scholz would only get 22 percent in the (hypothetical) K question. Possibly another indication that the Chancellor candidate decision could cost the Union dearly.
At the same time, those questioned gave the Forsa survey a very clear slap in the face for the whole of political Berlin.
The institute also asked which party voters are most likely to trust to cope with the problems in Germany.
The Union “won” in this category with a narrow 14 percent - two percentage points less than in the previous week.
The SPD (13 percent) and the Greens (9 percent) are hot on the heels.
53 percent of the survey participants stated that they did not trust any party to solve Germany's problems.
Incidentally, the Forsa surveys themselves are at least indirectly the subject of a dispute. The institute is currently in a legal dispute with the Federal Returning Officer.
Meanwhile, Olaf Scholz faces the next test on TV.

The data on party preferences were collected by the opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of Mediengruppe RTL from September 7th to 13th.
Database: 2501 respondents.
The institute put the statistical error tolerance at +/- 2.5 percentage points.
