The incident occurred at about 1 am last Saturday when the Marine Police Small Boat Division, Marine Police Regional Task Force, Marine Police Port Division, and the Customs Marine Joint Task Force launched a joint anti-smuggling operation at Fo Tong O, Tseung Kwan O.

Officers found 10 suspicious-looking men wandering along the coast of the Fotang ANZ Development Area. After that, a dump truck drove into a nearby open space, unloaded a batch of goods and left.

The 10 men then moved the goods to a coastal location in a human chain.

After that, the dump truck turned back and unloaded an environmental protection bucket. The men immediately took out the goods in the environmental protection bucket and moved all the goods to a speedboat.

The personnel immediately took action, and the dump truck immediately drove towards the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Zone. At the same time, the men on the shore also boarded the speedboat and drove away from the scene at high speed and fled to the southeast.

The officers then launched a chase, but the speedboat eventually fled towards the mainland in the waters east of Hong Kong.

During the operation, officers seized a total of 171 boxes and 50 bags of suspected smuggled goods, with a market value of approximately 13 million yuan.

It includes a batch of moon cakes, dried flower glue, dried shark fin, integrated circuits, electronic parts, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, brand-name clothing, handbags and an environmental protection bucket.

The case is handed over to customs officers for further follow-up.

For the first time, the police found smugglers smuggling goods with environmental protection buckets.
