The Hong Kong University Student Union Council passed in July this year to mourn the motion of the July 1 assassination suspect Liang Jianhui.
Four members of the Hong Kong University Student Union were later charged with publicizing terrorism and other crimes. Only the defendant, Rong Songxi, was granted bail in the Magistrates’ Court.

After returning to campus, he believed that as long as additional bail conditions were imposed, Rong would not continue to engage in acts that would endanger national security, and finally approved Rong's bail.

The judge first quoted the prosecution's statement in the judgment, saying that the fourth defendant, Rong Songxi, not only attended the meeting involved in the case, but voted for the motion. Before and after the motion was passed, the judge emphasized that the suspect Liang Jianhui was a hero and was accused by the Communist Party as a terrorist. People are also heroes.
Rong also pointed out that Liang showed the most beautiful aspect of human nature.
The prosecution also pointed out that in the meeting in mid-December last year, Rong expressed his enthusiasm for politics, his connection with local factions, and his concept of "resistance."
Rong comes from a good family
Rong’s lawyer said that Rong comes from a good family, his parents are teachers and social workers, and his brother is also studying at university.
Rong’s academic performance is excellent, and if he is released on bail, he will be able to return to school and continue his studies in the new school year.
The lawyer emphasized that Rong is not a member of the student council, and the motion involved in the case has also been withdrawn.
The judge considered the submissions of the prosecution and the defense and the documents before the meeting, and believed that if additional bail conditions were imposed, including an additional 50,000 yuan guarantee and other conditions, Rong would not continue to commit acts that endanger national security.
The judge also believes that the risk of absconding and repeat offenders is not high.
