The Rotary Club Dorfen is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an anniversary gala in the Jakobmayer Hall.

In the past two decades, 480,000 euros have already been donated.

- Do good and talk about it: Regardless of whether it is the annual Christmas raffle, application training for middle school students, current Corona aid for schools or a contribution to the Sophienhospiz - the commitment of Rotarians in Dorfen knows hardly any limits.

And also worldwide, for example for schools and hospitals in Nepal.

Now the club celebrated its 20th birthday at the Jakobmayer.

The local organization, which currently has 46 members, has already collected and distributed around 480,000 euros for social purposes. The donations from the anniversary gala went to neighborhood aid. The amount has not yet been determined, explained RC President Hans Baumgartner: "Some of the neighboring clubs have announced that they will transfer their donations to our account."

Twenty years ago the Rotary idea had not yet reached Dorfen, said Jürgen Holz, who at the time nevertheless found 17 men and - as a real novelty in the Rotarian male domain - also six women to join the club.

Ernst Bartmann was the youngest member at the time: “Just 25 years old,” said the founding president.

It is hardly surprising that Dorf's most famous musician also arranged the musical program for the donation gala.

A concert masterpiece, a firework of classical music.

The four strings of the “viva musica orchestra Salzburg” played a wide-ranging repertoire that ranged from Mozart and Strauss to Brahms to Puccini and Elgar.

The highlight was Dvorak's fourth movement “From the New World”.

“A colorful program with great voices,” said Bartmann.

And indeed, the international artists - soprano Lyriel Benameur, tenor Karo Khachatryan and baritone Robson Bueno Tavares - are at home on the big stages and will also be part of Bartmann's next Wagner production of “Opera Incognita”.

"A great musical accompaniment, a real experience", praised President Hans Baumgartner and referred to his predecessor Rolf Schwaneberg, who was responsible for organizing the gala, which had been postponed due to Corona.

Mayor Heinz Grundner praised the commitment of the Rotarians, who “have become an integral part of the organization in the social life ”of the city.

"The Rotary Club of Dorfen is a valuable and strong pillar in our broad network of helpers," said District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfe.

He interpreted the 3G rule differently: "Estimated because of excellent projects that are skilfully implemented and do a lot of good." Peter Lenz from the neighboring RC Ebersberg-Grafing added a fourth G, a voucher for 500 euros.

Rotary guests from the Slovenian partner club Grosuplje were also present.

In Slovenia there are many children from socially disadvantaged families, said Jose Kastelic.

"I am happy about the friendship with the Rotarians from Dorfen and their support in some of our projects." They would not have seen each other for two years.

And of course other neighboring Rotary clubs were also present, such as the RC Erding, the “Parents Club” and the “Grandparents Club” Freising - this is how Jürgen Holz described the family relationships.
