After the apple days in honey with the hopes for a sweet year, and after the days of soul-searching and fasting, comes the lighter holiday, the one that adorns the landscapes of the country, urban and rural, with a variety of beautiful and colorful Sukkot.

This year, the holidays and weekdays are stretched on both sides of next weekend, and accordingly, travelers are offered a variety of attractions, activities, tours and events.

The highest and the largest

The highest sukkah in the country will be built at the Hermon site, and guided tours that combine nature, heritage and geopolitics will take place during the holiday season.

Alongside them, visitors will have access to the rest of the site's summer activities, including downhill skiing with summer tubes (from the age of 5), extreme sledding, fast riding in a double sled and more.

The tours and entry to the site are free, the facilities range from NIS 40 to NIS 54, but discounted tickets can be purchased on the website.

The largest hanging sukkah in the world is located at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem.

The size of the sukkah is expected to be about 400 square meters, and about five meters high. The sukkah is located on the lobby floor and is placed under a glass roof that can be opened and closed depending on the weather. .

In Samaria, a sukkah will be placed on the balcony of Peduel, from which there is an impressive view from Hadera to Ashkelon.

There will also be a "State Terrace" festival, which will include free guided tours with street actors and guides from the Nature and Parks Authority, kites and challenging activities.

The activity will take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at Sukkot (September 23-22 and 26), from 10:00 to 16:00. Admission and guided tours are free. Price for the challenging activity: NIS 20 per person.

There will also be tours and guided tours of the area's wineries in Samaria.

At Kabir Winery, it will be possible to go on field trips on Izzy Ryder between the landscapes of Mount Kabir, by prior arrangement.

At the "Bracha on the Mountain" winery, the public is invited to witness the fulfillment of the prophecy "More vineyards in the mountains of Samaria", and to join a tour of the vineyards, explanations and wine tasting (NIS 15 per person).

Free tours and harvest in the forest

Most national parks and nature reserves will be open during the holiday until 18:00, and kosher Sukkot will be set up at all sites.

During the holidays, visitors can enjoy "Breathing Culture" shows in collaboration with Mifal Hapayis, at no extra charge, and watch a team of jugglers, circus artists, actors, musicians, singers and more.

The artists will be interpreted at several points in the national parks, and the site can be updated on activity hours and location.

In addition, dozens of national parks and nature reserves will receive free professional training with guides, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.

In the Birdy National Park, Sukkot and Ushpizin activities will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays, September 23-22, on harvest days.

In the alleys of the Old City, Tzipori, four holiday Sukkot will be set up - Etrog, Lulav, Hadas and Arava - and visitors will be able to meet figures from the Mishnah period: Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi, Rabbi Akiva, Rish Lakish and Elisha ben Aboyah.

In addition, there will be: a musical show for the whole family, instruction between paths and ancient orchards overlooking the Beit Netofa Valley, and in honor of the harvest days - also an olive harvest.

The KKL-JNF also refers to the harvest, and invites you to a family experience in the KKL-JNF olive groves in the Lavi Forest and the Ben Shemen Forest.

The activity will take place on September 22 at 15: 30-9: 30 and will include an olive harvest, guided tours, art workshops and activities for children.

The fruit is harvested into containers for collecting olives.

The activity lasts about two to three hours, for a fee of NIS 10 per person.

More in the forest: In the Kiryat Ata forest, there will be a walk along the Sanhedrin on September 23, between 10:00 and 14:00, and experiential activities for the whole family on archeology, forest, nature and the environment.

There will be mosaic and pottery healing workshops.

In the northern Negev, four guided tours will take place during the week of Sukkot, with a subsidy from the Ministry of Tourism and the Nature and Parks Authority: a meeting of the three borders and the Shalom region, combined with self-picking and tasting of fruits and vegetables;

A trip from the Bari Forest, including an experiential agricultural tour of the pineapple greenhouses of Farm 77;

A riding tour of the Middle Besor Road and a visit to the ostrich farm;

And a riding tour on the Heomanari Cavalry Road, from the Anemone Hill to the entrance to Moshav Nir Moshe, which ends with a visit to the Miriam Maze, a maze of herbs and perfumes.

The Association of Kinneret Cities and the Sea of ​​Galilee Authority also invite travelers on Sukkot to join tours on guided routes, in various sections of the "Trail around the Sea of ​​Galilee".

The first track will take place on September 22 at 18:00, following the film "Kinneret - Sea of ​​Life".

The tour will last about an hour and a half with a slight degree of difficulty, and at the end it will be possible to watch a movie in the open air.

The tour is free, and the price of the film is 40 shekels.

The second route will take place on September 23 at 10:00 and will combine an experiential reed walk, a visit to "Horbat Manim", a Muslim palace from the Umayyad period and more.

It will start at the Sapir site and continue south on an agricultural road, to Nahal Amud to the estuary to the Sea of ​​Galilee.

The tour lasts about 4-3 hours (about 4 km), with a medium level of difficulty suitable for hikers. You must be equipped with walking shoes suitable for water. Both routes are not suitable for strollers. You must register in advance on the Kinneret Cities Association website.

The KKL-JNF Wings Center will hold birding activities in Agam Yeruham Park during the holidays: a birding tour at sunset, in which participants will discover, equipped with binoculars, the magical world of birds. The tour is suitable for ages 3 and up and will take place on September 22 and 23 at 18:00. Price: 20 shekels.

Another activity is watching a bird drown, an activity during which the birds are captured for a few minutes, their body measurements are checked, marked with a unique ring and then released.

During the tour you will join the research station and you will see how coins are released.

The activity is suitable for ages 4 and up and will take place on September 22 and 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
