Israeli sports in shock after the death of basketball coach Arik Alfasi when he was only 49 years old after contracting the corona virus and being anesthetized and respirated in recent weeks.
Culture and Sports Minister Hili Trooper said: "I was sorry to hear of the death of the late senior basketball coach Eric Alfasi.
Arik has coached many teams, achieved great results with them and even served as an assistant coach of the Israeli national team.
Eric has left his mark on the Israeli basketball world and his untimely departure is a heavy loss for this world and of course for his family.
I ask to share in the family's grief, may his memory be blessed. "
The director of the National League bows her head after the death of Arik Alfasi, who at the end of last season coached Elitzur with him in Ashkelon.
Alfasi (49) also previously served as assistant coach of the Israeli national team.

The National Basketball League administration said: "The National League administration bows its head after the death of Arik Alfasi, who coached Elitzur with Ashkelon at the end of last season. Alfasi (49) also previously served as assistant coach of the Israeli national team."
