Since Tuesday, users diverted since the torrential rains of June 21 can again take the departmental axis between Saint-Lég

This Tuesday, the drivers finally found the RD 981. The axis had been closed to traffic between Saint-Léger-en-Bray and Aux Marais (Oise) following the torrential rains which fell on the Beauvaisis during of the deadly storm of June 21.

The equivalent of a month of rain fell in just a few hours, causing the death of an 18-year-old young man.

The bad weather had also caused the collapse of the bridge and the roadway, swept away by the ru d'Auneuil.

425,000 euros of works

Rendered impracticable, this portion of RD 981 required major road works which were initially due to be completed on October 15.

“We first had to do work on the sewerage and gas and electricity distribution networks,” explains Lyonel Bossier, director of infrastructure and transport in the department.

It was then necessary to tackle the roads and the reconstruction of the bridge.

The bad weather had also caused the collapse of the bridge and the roadway, swept away by the ru d'Auneuil.

In total, this large-scale operation will have cost 425,000 euros to the Department, in charge of the departmental road network.

“Two-thirds were devoted to the bridge structure,” explains Lyonel Boissier, “it was really the most complicated part of the site.

"Happiness"

With three weeks in advance, the inhabitants of Beauvaisis, who had been diverted by the RN 31 since June 21, can finally get back to their ways.

"Happiness," testifies a motorist accustomed to this axis.

I have already passed this morning.

Finally, no more detours, this is very good news.

"" A good thing done, rejoices Hans Dekker, the mayor (SE) of Auneuil, a town of 3,000 inhabitants.

Here, the population is often forced to go to Beauvais for work.

Fortunately, there are other possible routes such as the national road 31. 20 years ago, it would have been much more complicated.
