The move by members of the American Democratic Party to remove a legal provision related to providing American financial support to the Israeli occupation entity sparked controversy and widespread confusion in the corridors of Congress, being the first of its kind historically and an unprecedented incident in the United States, which has long provided unconditional support to this entity.
Democratic members of Congress withdrew a billion dollars in military funding to "Israel" from a bill to fund the US government after the objections of the left wing of the Democratic Party itself, which sparked widespread controversy and astonishment in Congress, which had never obstructed any move to support the occupation entity before.
The ratification of US military aid was postponed following the opposition of a group of Democratic members of Congress and their refusal to vote in favor of the budget in the event that it included the “Iron Dome” missile interceptor clause, and the related clause was deleted from the budget law, to be later incorporated into the Security Budget Act.
In the face of the obstruction of American support by a small number of members of Congress, the rest of the members rushed to present a ceremony of obedience and siding with Israel, as the Democratic Majority Leader in the US House of Representatives, Steny Hoyer, announced yesterday evening that the House will vote before the end of the week on the bill that includes funding for “Iron Dome,” indicating That it will use an expedited mechanism for the adoption of this text to be approved by a two-thirds majority of the members present or by a unanimous oral vote.
The democratic move against "Israel" angered the Republican minority and the anger of some moderate Democrats, so criticism and threats rose in Congress.
US President Joe Biden, like others before him in the White House, renewed his full commitment to providing military aid to the occupation entity. Last year, Washington provided Israel with financial aid worth $3.8 billion as part of a long-term annual commitment within an agreement signed by former US President Barack Obama in 2016 granting the entity The Israeli aid package amounts to $38 billion over 10 years, all for military purposes.
