In which cities to travel safely? To get an idea of the level of safety of its holiday destination, tourists can refer to the Safe Cities Index established every two years by
The Economist
, the 5th edition of which has just been published. The British newspaper ranked 60 cities around the world by analyzing 76 indicators covering five major areas: digital, health, infrastructure, personal safety and - new this year - environmental safety (which includes criteria like the quality of the air and waste management).
While it was in 9th position in the last index which dates from 2019, Copenhagen occupies the head of the general classification with a score of 82.2 out of 100. The capital of Denmark, appreciated by travelers for its design, its gastronomy and its ecological commitment, is followed by Toronto and Singapore.
The top 20 is largely dominated by European capitals and major cities in the United States.
Paris is in 23rd position, the place it already occupied in 2019. The bottom of the list is occupied by Caracas, Karachi and Yangon.

A ranking largely dominated by European capitals which occupy eight of the top ten places.
