"Art-Stop" is the name of the project by Neufahrn artist Maja Jiranek.

To do this, she has chosen a gas station that has already seen its best days.

Mintraching

- You know it from driving past: On the former B 11 in Mintraching (Münchner Straße 14) there is a gas station that has been closed for a long time.

"This visible vacancy on a main street, similar to other places in the district, calls for creative ideas for temporary use," says Neufahrn artist Maja Jiranek with conviction.

"It is these seemingly deserted places that exert a special fascination."

In order to breathe a little life back into this place, at least in the near future, Jiranek has now used the opportunity to exhibit her work in the gas station.

She wants to draw attention to artists in the district and also inspire other owners of (commercial) real estate for similar projects.

Visits can also be arranged by telephone

Next weekend, September 24th (5pm to 7pm) and September 25th (10am to 12pm), as well as on Friday, October 1st (5pm to 7pm), and Saturday, October 2nd (10am to 12pm), you can Now travelers, commuters and other interested parties can make an “art stop” - as the exhibition is called - at the gas station. Maja Jiranek's offer: “You can park right in front of the petrol station and take a short break with art.” Short-term visits can be arranged by calling 01 70 3 47 00 80 (more information at www.myart.de).

The special charm of the site fits in with the artist's work in many ways: in her series “mystic walls” Jiranek deals with ruinous architecture, in “treasure maps” with maps or in the series “in transition” with physical and psychological movement.

In her work there is always a fascination for old buildings, for symbols and archaic forms, for foreign cultures or also for playing with reflections and overlays.

Selection of small-format paper works to large-format paintings

With this exhibition, the artist from Neufahrn wants to reach people who might not otherwise go to an art gallery, but who want to get involved in this unusual place and be surprised.

A selection from small-format works on paper to large-format paintings is shown.

“This temporary interim use shows that there is a lack of exhibition space and opportunities - not only in the district,” Jiranek is convinced.

The past few months in particular have shown the power art can develop in unusual places: There were exhibitions in supermarkets, in former factories, in boxing halls, in shop windows - and now also in a former gas station.
