Reuters reported that the epicenter was reported near the town of Mansfield, about 200 miles north of Melbourne and at a depth of about 10 miles.

State media reported that in the north of the city of Melbourne, the second largest city in terms of population in Australia with about 4.5 million inhabitants, there was a power outage that was apparently related to the earthquake.
