Between the Taliban and the ousted government, the thorny question of Afghan representation at the UN

An inextricable situation for the UN: as the annual general assembly of its member states opens, two requests have been received simultaneously.

One of the Taliban, through their new Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, asking to speak on behalf of Afghanistan.

The other of the former government deposed, disintegrated and exiled, also asking to speak.
