British researchers have warned of a long-term economic recession in Britain due to the increasing aging and the shortage of children.
The British newspaper The Guardian quoted the Social Market Foundation as saying in a new study prepared by the British newspaper that the aging of the population in Britain may lead to a deterioration of the economy in the long term, noting that a quarter of the number of Britons will be over 65 years by 2050.
The birth rate in England and Wales peaked in 1964 when the average number of children per woman was 2.93, but it declined until last year it reached 1.58, well below the level needed to keep the population stable.
