Federal election 2021: How to apply for a voting slip
All eligible voters had to have received a voting notification by September 5, 2021.
This will be sent by post and contains important information on voting.

A form is also enclosed with the voting notification.
With this, those entitled to vote can apply for a voting slip in order to vote by postal vote.
Before the federal election in 2021, all eligible voters will receive a voting notification.

Did you know long in advance that you would be unable to attend on September 26th, you could apply for a voting slip before September 5th.
This can be done orally or in writing - but not by phone.

September 26, 2021:
The documents should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. on this day.

Postal voting from abroad: You should have considered that
Postal votes are also possible for those entitled to vote who live abroad.
In order to be able to participate in the federal election in 2021, people living abroad must apply to the responsible municipality to be entered in the electoral roll.
The application had to be submitted by August 5, 2021 at the latest.
The postal voting documents should then be returned as soon as possible.
Here, too, the following applies: The documents must arrive by the election date on September 26, 2021 at 6 p.m. at the latest, otherwise the vote will not count.

This gives the full address to which the election letter must be returned.

Once voters have received the voting slip, there are two options: You can send the voting documents back by post or, alternatively, vote with the voting slip at an electoral office.

Tick first and second vote on the voting slip.
Put the ballot in the blue envelope (ballot envelope) and tape it shut.
You sign the "Insurance on oath instead of postal vote" with your date and signature.
This is located at the bottom of the ballot paper.
Now put the ballot paper and the blue envelope in the red ballot envelope.
Glue these up too.
You can hand in the red postal ballot envelope unstamped within Germany - or hand it in directly to the place indicated.
