But in Israeli sports: Basketball coach Arik Alfasi passed away last night (Tuesday-Wednesday) at the age of 49 after contracting the corona virus and being anesthetized and respirated in recent weeks.

Alfasi, who became famous at the beginning of the millennium as a senior youth coach, has worked in the senior leagues since 2008 and, among other things, led Elitzur Netanya to the Final Four in 2010. He also worked for years for Nahariya, Hapoel Eilat and other teams.

His last team was Elitzur Ashkelon, which he led to the playoff semifinals of the national league last season.

He also served as assistant coach of the Israeli national team at the beginning of the previous decade.

Alfasi, who left behind a wife and children, will be laid to rest today in the cemetery in Moshav Avihail at 3:00 PM, with the participation of many basketball players, friends and family.
