A great honor and responsibility for Yarvis Boutin from Wörthsee: The 27-year-old is the new deputy chairwoman of the Bavarian Youth Red Cross.

Above all, it wants to convey human values to the approximately 106,000 members.

Wörthsee

- solidarity, humanity, moral courage. Yarvis Boutin uses these three words again and again when she talks about her work at the Bavarian Youth Red Cross. Three words, or rather values, that the 27-year-old from Wörthsee will not only live by herself, but also want to convey. In her new role as deputy state chairwoman of the youth BRK. On Monday evening they elected the 60 delegates in the state assembly in Dachau for the next four years.

“A huge honor and also a great responsibility,” says Boutin, whose last name is pronounced in French.

Together with the new chairman Kirk Thieme from Nuremberg and his other deputy Kathrin Bruss from Ansbach, she will head the 106,000-member association.

The trio does not want to lead from above, but at eye level.

“We see the whole association as one big team,” emphasizes Boutin.

The three benefit from the fact that they have known each other from various BRK meetings for a number of years.

"We roughly know what makes the other one tick, and I think we fit together very well."

One of Boutin's tasks is to represent the interests of the youth association

Boutin's duties as deputy country management include, among other things, representing the interests of the youth association and its young members in the various committees of the BRK. Most recently, in times of pandemics, the children's voices were not heard enough, she believes. "It is incredibly important that the youth groups meet regularly," emphasizes Boutin, who herself leads two such groups for the BRK in Germering. “The children and young people there learn to think as a community and that they can even save lives with their first aid skills and the appropriate courage.” In short: solidarity, humanity, moral courage.

In addition to the three hours that Boutin invests weekly in the meetings of the youth groups, there will probably be a few more in the future.

"I guess I will be busy writing e-mails, making phone calls and so on, around 20 hours a week," she suspects.

But she doesn't see this as a problem.

"I really, really like doing it."

Otherwise, Boutin is studying law in Augsburg, where she is about to take her first state examination.

She also works for the rescue service and tries to take advantage of the five lakes in her free time.

“When I have time, I prefer to go hiking or swimming.” Otherwise, however, the focus is on her new task.

Boutin says: "I want to make a difference - not just manage it."
