Hundreds of family members and acquaintances are participating today (Wednesday) in the funeral ceremony of Hossam Zagier, police volunteer Mirka who was run over to death near a construction site in Nahariya.
They walked in silence with his coffin in the alleys of the village with the sheikhs at the head of the march, including the head of the Druze community from Wafak Triff, to the People's House.
Zagier, 32 at the time of his death, left behind a wife and two children.
His coffin was brought in a police car and as usual it was opened, presented to the attendees of the religious ceremony and kissed.
Then he was brought to parting also with the help of the mourning women.
At the end of a prayer given to him, Sheikh Tarif spoke.
At the same time, thousands are attending a police funeral for Zagire in the village military cemetery.
The funeral is attended by ministers, MKs, senior officers from all security forces, dignitaries, public figures, his friends and loved ones.

Earlier today, the Magistrate's Court in Haifa extended by eight days the detention of contractor Nissim Sach, 44, from Araba, who is suspected of trampling to death Zagir and the serious injury of policeman Amir Abu Rish, who was with him, and is also a resident of Yarka. In recent hours, Abu Rish's condition has improved, but he is still defined as moderate.
The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, today visited the wounded at the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. "He is a warrior, he is strong, he will recover and he will return. He comes from a family of warriors and nothing will stop him," Bar-Lev said. The minister added: "I heard from the injured policeman one very important thing, the policeman must not bend. The details of the investigation into the incident indicate that Zagier and Abu Rish were called to Aliya Street in Nahariya following complaints from neighbors about noise created by workers who worked at a construction site on the site.
The workers apparently made a big noise, and neighbors called police to complain.
After the two policemen arrived, the workers called their foreman.
At this point, urgency began between the foreman and the police.
The foreman entered the vehicle, ran over the officers and fled.
