Starnberg's Catholic pastor Dr.

Andreas Jall has been exposed to abuse from right-wing circles for some time.

He received very special greetings again around the festival for honorary office and democracy last Friday.

Starnberg

- "My friends have thought of me again." Including a photo with a sticker of the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement. A few days ago, Starnberg's Catholic pastor Dr. Andreas Jall published this entry on his Facebook page. Already in the run-up to the festival for honorary office and democracy last Friday on the church square, strangers, presumably under cover of darkness, had put stickers with right-wing slogans such as "Defend yourself: It is your country!" On the property of the Catholic rectory.

Stickers on his car, on signs, on the building - for the past two years, right-wing extremists have repeatedly targeted Jall. "Once a month I notice that people from the direction of the Identitarian Movement have been to the rectory," he says in an interview with Starnberger Merkur. Back then, in May 2019, he and his Protestant counterpart Dr. Stefan Koch organized a counter-program to an AfD event on the church square and also let the bells of the parish church of St. Maria ring at short notice. In the aftermath, the police advised him not to park his car in front of the rectory for a few weeks, but rather in an underground car park, says Jall.

On his Facebook profile, he received corresponding messages again and again. "I should take care of Christians rather than Muslims," Jall cites as an example. In the beginning he answered many of these writers, but now he no longer does it. “It's pointless,” says Jall. "There is just a certain percentage of people who are trapped in their nationalist dull bubble and absolutely inaccessible to discussion." So Jall deletes the posts. Meanwhile, his housekeeper has developed a tactic to remove the stickers quickly and without leaving any residue.

But Jall is not intimidated. “I'm not ducking away,” he says. “And I continue to carry the cross in advance and represent the positions that the cross stands for.” Namely, for all people to come together, regardless of their origin, skin color and religion. However, Jall is also aware that his personal environment is not necessarily comparable with others. "I have no family. If I had young children, I would probably worry more. ”In any case, the hate messages did not leave you cold.

The Protestant pastor Johannes de Fallois can also tell you a thing or two about it. He has only been in Starnberg for a year and has not yet been targeted by right-wing extremists in the district. When he was pastor in Neuburg an der Donau several years ago, it was different. After he let the church bells ring for an hour against an NPD event, there was subsequently hostility, he reports. “I've made my experiences,” says de Fallois. The message from last Friday was all the more beautiful and stronger. "We are not alone. City and district speak with one voice. That was a strong external manifesto. "

Other speakers at the Friday event were apparently not harassed this time either, for example the CSU member of the Bundestag Michael Kießling.

He still finds clear words: “It is a cheek what happened to the pastor,” he says.

Green candidate Martina Neubauer describes the attacks against Jall as a “complete no-go”.

"Unfortunately, respectful interaction is becoming less and less important."

The candidates Carmen Wegge (SPD), Britta Hundesrügge (FDP) and Simone Ketterl (left) remained unmolested this time.

On the contrary, she was given “the courage to continue on the democratic and humane path and also to show which side I am on,” says Hundesrügge.
