The Russian Foreign Ministry once again criticized the United States' exploitation of the presence of the United Nations headquarters on its territory to take arbitrary decisions regarding visas, stressing that Washington manipulates the granting of entry visas to participate in the activities of the international organization and puts pressure on other countries and arbitrarily decides to grant these visas to whomever it wants and withholds them from whomever it wants.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that Washington blatantly abuses the presence of the headquarters of the international organization on its soil, indicating that these actions are considered blatant arbitrariness and an absolutely unacceptable violation of international law, stressing that it will not remain without an inevitable response.
The statement added that "the US authorities have continued, for many years, their deliberate approach to obstructing the granting of entry visas to Russian representatives to participate in the activities of the international organization in New York, and this time refused to grant a visa to Leonid Slutsky, head of the International Relations Committee in the State Duma and a member of the Russian delegation to The seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly, bearing in mind that it was the Russian President who approved the composition of this delegation.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that Washington had undertaken, under the agreement on the presence of the United Nations Headquarters in New York since 1947, the obligation to ensure that the conditions of the activities of the representations of foreign countries accredited to the United Nations did not obstruct the conditions.
