Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his regret that US President Joe Biden did not speak in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly about the importance of building international relations on the basis of mutual respect.

"Unfortunately, we have not heard statements that relations should be built on the basis of mutual respect, consideration of each other's interests and equality, but these are principles that we adhere to," TASS news agency quoted Peskov as saying during a press conference today.

Peskov pointed out that "the most important thing for Moscow is that Biden spoke about the end of wars and the opening of the era of diplomacy, which is undoubtedly encouraging to hear."

Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stressed that everything the US president said in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly should be tested with actions, not words.
