Russian designers have announced the development of a complex of rifles containing elements of an artificial intelligence system, in which the neural network of the soldier helps in identifying, tracking, aiming and shooting, while the soldier only has to pull the trigger.
“The elements of the artificial intelligence system used in the rifle were designed and presented to the Russian Minister of Defense,” Sputnik quoted the chief designer of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, Sergey Orgomtsev, as saying, noting that it was designed to increase the speed and accuracy of hitting targets at night or in bad weather conditions when targets could not be detected. .
Orgomtsev added: “The shooting complexes of the future should be able to identify and track targets in such conditions, and this will indeed require the use of artificial intelligence techniques in harmony with neural networks by integrating various optical and electronic devices into a single system with only small arms.”
It is planned that after research and development work will be carried out mass production of the new rifle.
