The director of the branch of the General Organization for Seed Propagation in Hama, Engineer Abdul Ghani Al-Aswad, explained the continuation of the sifting and sterilization operations of wheat received from the multiplication fields contracted with it during the current agricultural season in preparation for financing operations for the next season.
In a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin, Al-Aswad pointed out that 8,500 tons of wheat seed were sifted and sterilized out of the total quantity received for the current season, amounting to 27 thousand tons, with a daily sifting and sterilization capacity of about 170 tons, through the main sifter in Kafrhum, in addition to the mobile sifter currently located in Agricultural mechanization headquarters.
Al-Aswad pointed out that the wheat is sifted from dust and broken kernels, then sterilized and placed in places designated for storage in order to be distributed to farmers, agricultural banks and international organizations in the next planting season, pointing out that 4,500 tons of wheat seed were distributed to the agricultural banks in Hama, and 2,500 tons were shipped. For the Foundation's branches in the governorates, 1500 tons are currently available in the branch's warehouses, ready for distribution.
Al-Aswad indicated that the branch will soon open the door of contracting with farmers to grow the wheat crop in the propagating fields for the next agricultural season, explaining that the branch is waiting for the sale price of wheat seed to be determined by the General Administration of the Corporation to start contracting operations, under which the contractors receive an encouraging price that is not less than the price set by the government. about 20 percent.
