The ADFC Würmtal is broken up and divided into individual local groups.
The first group has now been founded in Graefelfing, with Planegg and Neuried to follow soon.
Würmtal
- Each municipality in the Würmtal has its own cycling club. The ADFC local group Würmtal is history. That was also a "strange group", says Martin Feldner, 3rd Mayor of Graefelfing. You did not belong to either the Starnberg District Association or the Munich District Association. “It was located directly at the regional association.” It had already been dissolved two years ago, but because there were still cycling tours, this was not noticed.
Now it is restarted. There will also continue to be a national working group for joint tours and activities. But three local groups are being founded because it makes more sense to pursue transport policy in the local council and not nationally, says Feldner. ADFC member Lotar Krahmer from Planegg also explains: The ADFC strives to "map the administrative structure of the FRG". From an administrative point of view, there is no Würmtal - so there should no longer be a local branch of the Würmtal General German Bicycle Club. Gauting has had a local chapter since 2014. In Krailling there are currently too few active people for their own local group, says Krahmer.
The first new organization has now been created in Graefelfing. 100 ADFC members from Graefelfingen were invited to the community center, 22 accepted the invitation and founded a local group. Heiko Germeroth acts as spokesperson, Dee Cook-Rollinson is his deputy. “The two are a real asset to us,” says Feldner. “We urgently need young blood, and we have now found it.” The Neuried local group is to be founded on October 21, and the one in Planegg on November 10. Lotar Krahmer is quite confident that there are enough active people in both parishes so that a local group can be founded. Nevertheless, he says: “People still have to find us.” After all, the local group wants to expand its spectrum and “not just meddle in transport policy”. The more active there were,the more other topics could be taken up. Krahmer does not remain idle: For the time before the Planegger founding meeting, he is planning an information booth to do a lot of advertising.
Feldner is also thinking about expanding the spectrum. "I would like to set up a working group for bike tours" - and that for the whole of the Würmtal. In the municipality of Graefelfing, he has already been appointed as the "cycling tour representative". He can also easily imagine a youth group across the Würmtal valley. But he prefers to leave their establishment to the youth themselves, he says.
