- Manfred Schmid spoke for a good hour on the evening of the citizens' meeting in Schwabsoien. As in Sachsenried, where the mayor answered questions the day before, there was great interest in the event: hardly a chair remained free. "During my tenure, I was able to initiate many projects and ideas," Schmid began his report. In fact, the town hall chief is pursuing ambitious goals for his community: including the “Kirschbichel” building area, the plans for a new heating network and the establishment of a social community center in the “Beim Bauernwirt” area.
But before these plans were discussed, the mayor turned to the community facilities.
Schmid was delighted that the kindergarten team was finally complete again on September 1, after half of it was filled.
"After the long staff carousel, it will hopefully be quiet again." There is still more to do at the Schwabsoien elementary school.
Despite Corona and the associated acceleration in terms of online teaching, the community missed its goals in digitization.
“We haven't made the progress that we wanted,” Schmid admitted.

Subsequently, the new "Kirschbichel" building area was the topic.
Of the 24 building sites that are being built around the Am Kellerberg area, 14 will be assigned to the citizens by the municipality (we reported).
“Our goal is to enable young, local families to own their own home.” When asked by a citizen whether an expansion of the building area was already in the planning stage, Schmid replied: “We have already planned it so that we can continue there can. ”But first they want to complete the current project.
Schwabsoien is toying with a heating network
In connection with the new building area, a new heating network is also to be created. In addition to the “Kirschbichel” construction area, this could also supply the adjacent streets, kindergarten and school with energy. "We can thus make a contribution to climate protection," said Schmid. The community is still in talks with the necessary project partners. The residents are also first informed about the planned heating network before the concrete planning begins. "Hopefully, such a model could also be implemented in other municipal areas in the future," said the mayor optimistically.
Schwabsoien is also ambitious with regard to another project: The community wants to buy the area in the “Beim Bauernwirt” area from the church in order to create a social and sustainable center for all generations.
For example, a day-care center with a daycare center, intensive care for the elderly and a community home including a day café could be built there.
A unique opportunity for the community
In order for the congregation to be able to buy the land from the church, however, it must submit a land-use plan for the future type of use. An architectural competition should help at this point. "We expect the results of the competition in December," said the mayor. A building plan can then be developed from this and presented to the church. “These are big plans, I know,” said Schmid. “But we have to seize the chance now. As a community, you only get this once every 100 years. ”A citizen wanted to know whether one could get involved in the concept for the use of the area. As Schmid explained, we have not yet reached this point. It must first be clear which type of development is basically possible. "Before the detailed planning, however, everyone is brought in."
