Today, Tunisian President Kais Saied issued a presidential order regarding exceptional measures, under which he will prepare draft amendments related to political reforms.
Tunisian media reported that the measures include continuing to suspend all the competencies of the House of Representatives, continuing to lift the parliamentary immunity of all its members, putting an end to all grants and privileges granted to the Speaker and its members, and measures for the exercise of legislative power and measures for the exercise of executive power.
The measures also include continuing to work with the Constitution, Chapters One and Two, and all constitutional provisions that do not conflict with exceptional measures, in addition to abolishing the temporary authority to monitor the constitutionality of laws, provided that the President of the Republic prepares draft amendments related to political reforms with the help of a committee organized by presidential order.
Last July, Saeed had issued decisions relieving Prime Minister Hisham al-Mashishi from his post, freezing Parliament for a period of 30 days, lifting the immunity of parliamentarians and assuming the executive authority until the formation of a new government.
