Around two weeks after the 2020 US presidential election, the loser Donald Trump and his team spread the propaganda of a "stolen election" at an event. They accused voting software companies of being in league with billionaire George Soros and wanting to overthrow Trump. Documents have now surfaced in court showing that the Republican's team knew the allegations were false at that point. The New York Times reported on it.
In an internal memo, which was presented to the court together with other evidence, the Republicans had already stated that the allegations against Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic were unfounded.
The campaign's communications manager at the time, Zach Parkinson, asked his employees in an email on November 13th to substantiate or refute the allegations against the two voting software companies with facts.

Dominion Voting Systems did not use Smartmatic technology in 2020.
The company has no connections to Venezuela or Soros.
There are also no links to left movements or the Antifa.
The lawyer of an employee of Dominion Voting Systems proved that at the press conference in question on November 19, at least within the Trump team, it was known that the allegations were false. However, it has not yet been proven whether Trump himself knew the memo. His lawyer Rudy Giuliani allegedly testified, according to court documents, that he did not see it before the press conference in question. The team did not respond to inquiries from the New York Times.
The propaganda of Trump and his colleagues did not find a hearing: Twitter marked his tweets with the note that the rightful winner of the election was today's US President Joe Biden.
But the lies spread within the conservative media, which ultimately incited a number of Trump supporters to storm the Capitol in Washington DC.
Giuliani loses his lawyer license
The broadcaster Fox News later had to admit the spread of false information by court order and broadcast fact checks in its program.
The two companies also sued for billions in damages.
Trump's lawyers, who unsuccessfully challenged the election results in various states in court on the basis of the allegations in question, are also facing various lawsuits.
Giuliani's license to practice law was suspended by a New York court in June.
Nevertheless, Trump and his team continue to hold on to their allegations.
