Thousands of people are on the run after the volcanic eruption on La Palma.
Reporters document the drama.
A man can't just film the pictures.
Munich - Our world is full of hot spots and fires.
It is the job of journalists, especially those on site, to raise awareness of this.
At the source.
For them, the following applies: not to give way, even in the face of the greatest catastrophe.
To be able to send disturbing pictures around the globe.
As a warning signal.
Reporters in crisis areas must therefore embody another important virtue in addition to curiosity and attention: fearlessness.
Because especially devastating storms or deadly terror attacks have to be illustrated and described.
This also means: the camera and microphone are not put down so quickly.
Something really extraordinary has to happen.

Volcanic eruption on La Palma: Suddenly reporter leaves the camera and lends a hand
Therefore, a clip is now going around the world that was recorded on the Canary Island of La Palma.
It shows panicked residents who want to save their belongings.
Like so many who were badly surprised by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano (in German: Old Summit).
Again and again they rush into a house, supported by emergency services, and carry clothes and valuables to a pickup truck.
Everything that can be grabbed lands on the already well-filled loading area.
The cameraman pans briefly away from the action and towards the threateningly approaching lava.
And then a light also dawns on him: Why just watch and document when I can also help myself?
And go from observer to actor.
So the reporter puts his camera on the floor and sprints into the house himself to help the desperate family.
The tweet said: “If we stick together, there will be no volcano that can weaken us.
Journalists finish their work to help a family evacuate their home on La Palma.
We don't know you, but thank you. "

Volcanic eruption on La Palma: More than 100 hectares covered by lava
The approximately 2000 meter high volcano in the south of the island is causing thousands to flee.
It is feared that a four-digit number of houses will be lost.
According to official information, more than 300 buildings have been completely destroyed so far.
The lava, which has a temperature of around 1000 degrees, plows over the island and has already buried more than 150 hectares of land under itself.
The residents have no choice but to save what they can quickly take with them, while they have to give a lot for lost.
But the video proves that you can rely on those around you.
Even if they were originally only supposed to send the alarming images out into the world.
