Study: Johnson & Johnson Two Dose High Efficacy 0:34
(CNN Spanish) - The
United States announced that it will relax travel restrictions for foreigners who are fully vaccinated.
The measures, as announced, will take effect from November.
In simple terms, US authorities will ask foreign international travelers to show proof of being fully vaccinated.
However, other measures such as tests, quarantines, contact tracing and the use of masks remain in place.
What does "fully vaccinated" mean and what vaccines are on the approved list?
This question has had particular resonance in Latin American countries and other regions, where some non-US approved vaccines developed by China and Russia are widely applied.

This is the list of vaccines approved by WHO and used to enter the US:
Pfizer / BioNtech
- approved for emergency use by WHO on December 31, 2020
AstraZeneca
(from AstraZeneca / Oxford) - approved for emergency use on February 16, 2021
Janssen
(from Johnson & Johnson) - approved on March 12 2021
Modern
- approved April 30, 2021
Sinopharm
- May 7, 2021

Which ones are not on the list?
These are some of those that are known to be working but have not yet been approved by the WHO:
Sputnik V
The Russian-made vaccine is 91.6% effective in preventing COVID-19, according to an analysis from February this year.
Sputnik V uses two different vectors that are based on human adenoviruses in separate injections.
Researchers at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Russia write that using a different adenovirus vector for boost can create a more powerful immune response than using the same vector a second time, by minimizing the risk of immune system resistance. .
This vaccine is applied in several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Venezuela.
And in total it has been approved for use in dozens of countries in other regions.
Novavax
This is manufactured in the United States, and according to data from phase 3 of a study in the United States and Mexico, it is 90.4% effective.
Novavax has yet to apply for emergency use with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
It is not yet applied in any country.
Abdullah and Sovereign
Cuban vaccines are already widely applied on the island, which has even begun vaccinating children as young as two years old.
Cuba says it will seek approval from the WHO.
