With many kisses: this is how Carlos Vives obtained his first Guiness record

Thanks to Zoom and dozens of couples kissing, Carlos Vives managed to break the first Guinness record of his career.

  Zoom has connected us all in the pandemic and, thanks to it, Carlos Vives adds another recognition to his career: his first Guinness record.

The Colombian singer broke the record for the most couples kissing simultaneously online.

Vives organized the event in support of the single "Kisses at any time", in which he shares voices with his daughter, Lucy, and the Venezuelan duet Mau and Ricky.

Couples from all over the world connected to a meeting by Zoom, in which Carlos Vives, Lucy Vives and Mau and Ricky Montaner were present.

There the couples kissed for 20 seconds, in which they could not take their lips off, according to the Guinness Records.

The event was held on September 18.

According to a statement from the Vives team, the official Guinness World Records adjudicator, Natalia Jiménez, was present and gave directions to the participants.

"The kiss of each couple should last 20 seconds, they could not detach their lips. All were of legal age. Men, women and entire families participated in this day from different countries of the world that could be seen live on TikTok", according to a Press release.

Carlos Vives joins a long list of Latin singers who have been awarded Guinness Awards after breaking a series of records.

In January, J Balvin broke the Guinness record for the most nominations (14) by an artist for a Lo Nuestro award in the same year.

Another of those who stand out are Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, who thanks to "Despacito" broke several Guinness records, among them:

  • Most viewed music video on the internet

  • Videoclip with more "likes" online

  • Music video of a duet most viewed on YouTube

  • Most played song globally

  • First YouTube video to reach 5 billion views

Daddy Yankee also holds the Guinness Records for the first artist to reach number one on Spotify, the most songs on Billboard's Latin Rhythm Airplay chart with 68 tracks, and the Latin artist with the most subscribers on YouTube Music.

Ozuna, meanwhile, broke the Guinness records for the most Lo Nuestro awards won in a year with 9 and the artist with the most videos to reach 1 billion views on YouTube with 7.

These singers are joined by:

  • Victor Manuelle with 5 Guinness record.

  • Carlos Santana for the most albums sold by a Latin artist.

  • Eduardo Cabra (Visitor) for the highest number of Latin Grammy Awards (24) won by an artist.

  • Calle 13 for the most Latin Grammy awards won by a group.

  • Shakira broke the Guinness record for the female artist with the most Latin Grammy awards.

  • Juanes holds the Guinness record for the artist with the most Latin Grammys won by a solo artist.

  • Olga Tañón broke the Guinness record for the female artist with the most nominations and the female artist with the most awards won at the Lo Nuestro award.

  • Selena Quintanilla holds three Guinness records:

    • First Latin artist to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

    • The Latin singer with the most albums sold in the United States.

    • Most weeks at number one on Billboard's Mexican regional chart.
