California authorities are asking for help identifying a Hispanic man who has been in a hospital since Aug. 24 and
cannot remember his name or where he lives.
The man was found on a corner in Sacramento's Arden Arcade area after having an accident on his bicycle and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, according to the state highway patrol.
The footprints of the man, who had an accident on his bicycle, have not yielded any information about his identity.

After unsuccessful efforts to identify him, the hospital shared two photos of the man with the caption "John Doe," which is the name given to unknown individuals.
So far all that is known is that he speaks Spanish, is in his 50s, is 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) tall and weighs 167 pounds (76 kilos).

The highway patrol said fingerprints and other records have not helped them find his identity.
"We are trying to see if anyone knows him. Any information serves only to identify him," Officer AJ McTaggart told FOX channel 40.
The local television station also consulted one of the doctors at the hospital.
The expert affirmed that the man may suffer from a
"fugue state", a condition where a state of amnesia occurs.

"The fugitive state, which is what this person seems to suffer from, is very rare," said Charan Ranganath, a doctor at the UC Davis Hospital Neuroscience Center.
Ranganath assured that although he does not know the peculiarities of the man in the hospital, historical data suggest
a relationship between not remembering who one is with some type of pre-existing mental stress.
Authorities ask that anyone who recognizes the man should
contact Highway Patrol Officer Eulogio Ceja at 916-754-7922 or Officer AJ McTaggart at 916-798-0975.
