The prosecutor's office filed an indictment against Moshe Shoval, a resident of Haifa, who tried to rob a bank branch in the city in a particularly sophisticated way.

The Haifa District Attorney's Office (Criminal) today (Thursday) filed an indictment in the city district court against Moshe Shoval (69), who is accused of snatching a bank clerk from her home, attaching an explosive belt to her body and demanding that she steal three million shekels for him.

Shoval, a resident of the city, is charged with offenses of kidnapping, extortion, attempted robbery, assault, forgery, sexual offenses and more.

The prosecution seeks to detain the defendant until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

According to the indictment, Shoval, a bank customer, decided to rob the branch.

He planned to kidnap her clerk, blackmail and threaten her, in order to force her to rob the bank according to his instructions.

At the beginning of September, the defendant forged a certificate from a private investigator on behalf of the bank, arrived at the clerk's home, and asked her to accompany her to a secret facility for the purpose of investigating the embezzlement of money in the bank.

The clerk agreed to accompany her and got into the car.

Shoval then drove with the clerk and on the way even covered her eyes with a cloth mask while falsely claiming in her face that she was not allowed to know where the facility was located.

He went into a rented warehouse, sat the clerk on a chair with her eyes covered, and after a while attacked her with an electric teaser, tied both her hands with handcuffs to the chair handles, and taped cellophane to her mouth.

At this point, the defendant presented to the clerk a false presentation according to which he is part of a group of four people who commit robberies in the country and that through it they intend to commit another robbery at the bank. Defendant went on to explain to the clerk how the robbery would be carried out and instructed her what to do while threatening her. Defendant then attached a dummy charge to the clerk's abdomen.

After three hours, the defendant took the clerk to the branch of the bank where she worked, threatening her that he would infringe on her privacy and cause her death by exploding the charge if she did not rob the bank according to his instructions. He waited for her near the bank, gave her a cell phone and left him connected so she could pass it on to the bank manager. The clerk entered the bank and handed the cell phone to the manager. The defendant received a sum of NIS 3 million from the manager and threatened that if he did not hand over the requested amount of money to the clerk within three minutes, the defendant would blow up the charge attached to the clerk and two other charges placed in the branch ahead of time.

The manager called the security officer and the police, and under the direction of the security officer, he removed the luggage from the clerk and placed it in a safe and ordered the bank's employees and customers to evacuate.

When the defendant realized that the plan had failed he left the place.

Later in the day, the defendant was stopped while traveling in a vehicle on his way to Tel Aviv.
