Some are really getting started in Mittenwald, others are still exercising refined restraint: The election campaign for the referendum on the planned aja hotel is currently still extremely one-sided.

- Matthias Haller is currently touring a lot through the Mittenwald business world. Sometimes the "Hias" is in the Gasthof Gries, sometimes in the Weinisen shoe store, sometimes at "Holz & Parkett Holler". His interlocutors always agree with him on one question: Yes, you are in favor of the aja-Hotel, and therefore you will vote no in the referendum on October 24th.
These short films can be seen on the Facebook page of the CSU local association, which has been promoting the luxury resort that is to be built between the train station and the town hall for weeks. And there, spots on the internet are exactly the right message for those who are undecided, says Haller. "We made ten of them in total," said the CSU deputy chairman and social media officer of his party. Only yesterday he uploaded Anton Sprenger's point of view, commonly known as “Schmid-Toni” (traditional costume shop) on the Internet. Show your colors is the slogan at the CSU, whose elected mayor Adolf Hornsteiner brought the much-discussed aja project into play in spring 2020.
More than ever, his party friends consider it the only right way to go. The local chairman Peter Wimmer speaks of a "landmark decision" in the referendum. Therefore, for him there is no question: “We have to do something, people have to be sensitized.” That is why the pro-hotel party CSU uses all conceivable channels. Tomorrow, Friday, for example, the blacks will invite you to an online discussion from 8 p.m. The meeting at Gasthof Gries can be followed via livestream on the publicly accessible CSU Facebook page (we reported). The Mittenwald-based company has not yet followed the repeated calls to send questions via e-mail. But Haller is not discouraged. “That’s something different.” It’s definitely worth a try.Especially since flyers to all households and two information stands are to follow in the hot phase.
So while the CSU is already going to the full in terms of referendum before the federal election, those who made this vote possible through their successful signature campaign in July are unusually defensive.
At the moment there is no talk of emotional appearances such as the citizen information in February 2020 in the TSV hall.
So what's wrong with the hotel opponents?
"We are still noticeable," promises guest house operator Christian Küffler, one of the initiators of the citizens' initiative.
According to him, however, there should be "no event".
Incidentally, the SPD is planning one of these next week, the faction of which, with the exception of Ursula Seydel, mostly supports the aja hotel project.
