CSU MP and Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer was elected to the Bundestag in 2017 with 47.5 percent of the vote.

In the last election he passed his SPD competitor Christian Flisek by a long way, who received only 18.9 percent of the first votes.

And again, this time, he was nominated as a direct candidate by the party in his home country.

He has been a member of the Bundestag for the constituency of Passau since 2005 and if this year's results follow the previous trend, a new legislative period with Andreas Scheuer in the Bundestag is possible again.

Meanwhile, the SPD is sending a new candidate into the race.

The city and district of Passau is a CSU region - at least that is what the survey results of the last election suggest.

In terms of the number of first votes as well as the number of second votes, the CSU is currently in first place in the city of three rivers.

But while the CDU / CSU has always been able to prove itself as the ruling party, the trust of the Christian-Social Union Party begins to decline more and more in the course of the election campaign, according to the polls.

While the SPD becomes the front runner in the election campaign, the CDU / CSU has now fallen to the historically worst value.

It is therefore unclear whether Andreas Scheuer can prevail again as a direct candidate for the Bundestag - the election campaign remains exciting.
