Many holiday countries are now tending towards a 2G rule, under which only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed to enter.

You can read where this already applies here.

In most holiday countries, entry is possible in accordance with the 3G rule. This means that tourists need a negative corona test or proof of vaccination or recovery. In some places, however, these rules are tightened even more: In Germany, most federal states have agreed on an optional introduction of the 2G rule, in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein they even want to make them mandatory, depending on the infection situation. Some tour operators have already announced that from autumn onwards they will only allow vaccinated and recovered guests. The 2G rule now also applies to most cruises - some of the upcoming Aida trips will even use 1G. The background is usually the strict requirements of the respective governments of the destination.Find out here where you have to be in quarantine as an unvaccinated person in Europe or not at all.

Vacation in Norway - hardly possible as an unvaccinated person

In Norway, the countries are divided into different categories according to the EU traffic light system.

The decisive factor is the infection rate.

Germany has been classified as a “red” country since August 30th.

Therefore, entry to Norway is only possible for those who have a digital Covid-19 certificate with QR code, which serves as proof of vaccination or recovery.

Unvaccinated people are only allowed to enter from Germany in exceptional cases

- for example to visit close relatives.

However, this is only possible under strict test and quarantine regulations, as the Federal Foreign Office informs.

Strict entry rules for Malta

Entry to Malta from Germany is generally permitted, but all travelers must provide proof of a complete vaccination in order to avoid quarantine.

According to the Foreign Office, exceptions apply to people who can be proven not to be vaccinated for health reasons

. Only vaccinations with a vaccine approved by the EMA are recognized - cross vaccinations are also allowed. However, anyone who has only received the first of the two required vaccination doses is not allowed to travel to Malta - not even if there is also evidence of recovery. The digital Covid-19 certificates of the EU are accepted as proof of vaccination. The yellow vaccination booklet, which is common in Germany, is not recognized.

Slovakia: Uncomplicated entry only with corona vaccination

Anyone who enters Slovakia unvaccinated or recovered must go into a

ten-day quarantine

.

A negative PCR test before entry cannot prevent this.

However, a negative PCR test result from a Slovak laboratory can end the quarantine prematurely after five days at the earliest.

Vaccinated people, on the other hand, do not have to go into self-isolation.

People between the ages of twelve and 18 are also exempt from the obligation to quarantine as long as they do not live in the same household with other persons who are subject to quarantine.

Strict entry rules for many long-haul destinations

Especially in autumn and winter, many holidaymakers let their gaze wander into the distance. Sunny beaches and fantastic weather beckon to escape the dreary months in Europe. However, this year vacationers have to be prepared for the fact that

strict entry rules will prevail in long-distance travel destinations

. For example, the USA announced that it would open its borders from November - but only for vaccinated Europeans. Entry into Canada is already possible again, but also restricted to vaccinated people. There are no exceptions for those who have recovered.

Thailand's capital Bangkok is also planning to open it to vaccinated tourists in October.

In this context, the popular Thai holiday areas Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin want to welcome holidaymakers again.

The situation is similar in New Zealand: The borders are not expected to open to international tourists until 2022 - but also provided that they are vaccinated.
