An 18-year-old girl from the Mainland of the University of Science and Technology accidentally fell into an electric scam and lost nearly RMB 800,000.
At about 9 am today (23), the police received a report from a female victim in the PolyU Jockey Club student dormitory, saying that they had received a call earlier. In one case, she was required to deposit about 800,000 yuan into a mainland bank account.
The victim did not fear any fraud, and later suspected of being deceived to report to the police.
After preliminary investigation by the police, the case was classified as obtaining property by deception and was handed over to the fourth team of the Kowloon City Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
